Nethergate Academy, Nottingham

This recently completed special educational needs outdoor area at Nethergate Academy has been completely revamped. Fourteen trees were felled, and shrubbery was replanted wherever possible. Fences were taken down and reinstalled to expand the playground area. The flagship tower unit now offers boundless entertainment and play opportunities for the students. Other new play elements include swing sets and in-ground trampolines. The entire area was covered with artificial grass, preserving the asphalt path for foot traffic.

The equipment the school had was a freestanding balance trail that wasn’t suitable or challenging enough for the children. He was hovering between 2 options, a like for like replacement or something different which worked the same muscle groups. We created 2 options for the school but unfortunately the project was put on hold due to finances.
