Yealand Church of England Primary School, Carnforth

The Brief
The existing area was looking tired with equipment that had been in for over 25 years. The school was keen to remove the old equipment and replace it with something new and exciting. The area is used by both the nursery and KS1 children so it was important to the school that both age ranges were catered for. They also wanted to extend the existing wetpour to make the area bigger too. They had spoken to the children to ask what they would like in their new playground and the nursery children wanted a slide and the KS1 children wanted some bars to spin around on.

The Project
ESP Play created a space that included our Kingsley Play Tower which is perfect for the nursery children and includes the slide they have always wanted. We also included four pieces of trim trail equipment for the KS1 children, these included our log pass, spinning log, rope traverse and the chin up bars that the children can now spin around on. We skimmed the existing wetpour as well as extending it right up to the existing willow dome. We surfaced another area of soil with brown rubber mulch so that it can be used all year around, we also added some simple benches for the children to sit on and a woodland hut where their imagination can run wild.

The Outcome
The children now have a much larger surfaced area that can be used all year around as well as exciting new equipment to play on that include their wish list items of a slide and spinning bars. The school was happy with the completed project and said they would use us again as well as recommend us to other local schools.
