The Site Manager contacted ESP PLAY in 2022 following works we had completed for him at his previous school. The much-loved existing climbing frame required replacement. He was hovering between 2 options, a like for like replacement or something different which worked the same muscle groups. We created 2 options for the school but unfortunately the project was put on hold due to finances.

In 2023, we were contacted by the Headteacher Sian as they now had funds for the project. Following a free consultation at the school, we created a bespoke climbing frame. Sian wanted to extend the area to cover part of a sensory path and soften all the existing edges.

We needed to remove everything including the rubber mulch and existing climbing frame and start again.

The school wanted something challenging, and the children liked monkey bars. She felt the current climbing frame had visibility concerns and offered nothing once they had climbed up.

The new bespoke climbing frame offers challenge and includes the overhead ladder bar that the children wanted. We mixed one of our tangled units with a playtower platform to make best use of the space. Using a mix of artificial grass and rubber mulch surfacing has provided a natural feel.
