Stocksbridge Nursery & Infant School, Sheffield

Stocksbridge Nursery & Infant School is part of the Peak Edge Academy Trust. Like a lot of schools they are taking on more children with special educational needs and were looking to create a better additional resource provision.

The area was used by their additional SEN provision which had a very small outdoor area that did not stimulate the children and whilst I was there experienced a lot of that energy being taken out on the teachers.

We installed a spinner for sensory stimulation as well as a climbing wall for a physical element and some musical panels for auditory stimulation.

When I returned to the school they said it is night and day. The children used to try and escape and would be a struggle for parents to get them into the school. Now they want to be here and the teachers find the children much easier to control and teach.
