Replacement of Climbing Structure

Location: Wellingborough

Project Overview
Rowan Gate Primary School wanted to refresh their playground by updating the existing climbing structure and improving the surrounding play surface. Their goal was to enhance safety and accessibility while creating a more engaging space for their pupils.

The Challenge
The school’s existing climbing frame was functional but showed signs of wear and the surfacing needed replacing to meet current safety standards. They also wanted to introduce a new play feature that would offer inclusive and dynamic play opportunities.

Our Solution
Working closely with the school and contractors, we installed a brand-new climbing frame designed to stimulate active play and physical development. Alongside this, we laid a new subbase topped with rubber mulch surfacing to improve safety and accessibility. This not only revitalised the area visually but also improved safety for the children. Additionally, we installed a doughnut spinner, a circular, rotating play feature designed to encourage sensory play and social interaction. This addition has become a popular element within the playground, offering both fun and developmental benefits.

Results
The finished playground is vibrant and inviting, combining the familiar climbing frame with new, safer surfacing and an exciting new play element. The refurbishments have been well received by staff and pupils alike, providing a stimulating and secure environment that encourages active play and inclusion.
