School Business Manager Susan and Headteacher Anne-Marie met our North West representative at The Northern Education Show. Impressed by the presentation, they scheduled a meeting to explore the EYFS area for the new school.
The construction began in January 2023 and was finalized on schedule and within budget, in time for the September opening. Moreover, it was delivered in accordance with net zero aspirations, marking the first project of its kind undertaken by Lancashire County Council.
The school was built using modular construction methods, which is faster than traditional construction methods and more energy efficient. The school has been established as a through school in conjunction with Ribblesdale High and will function across a split site. This arrangement permits students to utilize facilities at both locations and benefit from the expertise of specialist teaching staff. Additionally, it offers much-needed additional school places to the expanding community in Ribble Valley. It has been designed to allow for easy expansion to accommodate future needs in the area as and when necessary.
The new EYFS teachers, Jo and Rachel, envisioned a naturalistic space with diverse surfaces. They aimed to encompass the 7 areas of learning. We Incorporating features like a roadway, sandpit, mud kitchen, water wall, planters, mirror board, and educational markings. Eager to add climbing equipment, they were fond of our play towers, prompting us to design a custom one inspired by the nearby Clitheroe Castle.
Overall, the project was a tremendous success. We even had the opportunity to attend the school’s grand opening in November.
The school was so pleased with the new area that they’ve placed a second order with us. This order is aimed at developing the KS1 Playground to welcome the children advancing to Year 1 this coming September. Stay tuned for the upcoming developments!
