Newtown school is a warm, safe environment, where all children are encouraged to be the best they can be. Their children are at the heart of every decision they make.

They want to provide the best education for their children, making learning fun and meaningful, whilst developing their knowledge and skills. The pupils, governors and staff work hard to ensure the best for all of their children. They are on a rapid journey towards sustained school improvement and, as a whole school community, they share a united vision.

The school is one of ten primary schools that are part of the Cumbria Education Trust, a growing multi academy trust for primary and secondary schools in Cumbria. It was formed in September 2015 in response to an invitation from the Department of Education and is a not-for-profit charitable organisation. The trust also encompasses three secondary schools and the West Coast Sixth Form.

Mic, the Primary Estates Manager, got in touch with ESP Play via email asking us to provide some quotations for a couple of schools within the trust. He arranged to meet with our North West Consultant at the two sites and following those meetings he got in touch again to look at a third site, Newtown Primary School.

They had an existing tarmac space that they wanted to transform into a “Secret Garden” and so they wanted to have some artificial grass installed. They already had an existing pergola, some planters and some seating around the edge of the area that they wanted to keep.

Overall, the installation took less than two days and the new surfacing completely transformed the area. It was a only one simple change but very effective nonetheless. The addition of the green artificial grass instantly lifted the space and provided a vibrant contrast to the previously dull and drab tarmac.

Mic was very happy with the final installation and has continued to work with us at several other schools within the trust.
