Hawkhurst CofE Primary School Playground in Kent

Hawkhurst Church of England Primary School is a lovely village primary school for 4-11 year olds located in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. The Headteacher, Jodie, contacted us as she was looking to develop the EYFS area, particularly the surfacing which was mostly tarmac with some random cuts of artificial grass that were causing trip hazards. They were keen to keep the canopy, and happy for sandpit, the playhut and mud kitchen but wanted to remove the freestanding items and the wooden train to free up space to add a track, seating, performance area, planters and water area if budget allowed.

We were able to resurface the whole area with a mix of black wetpour with a blue track, artificial grass and resin bound gravel. The space offers zones for the children with a new water area, performance stage, new seating, tuft trays and planters added to give the school everything they wanted and in budget.

Feedback from the Headteacher

I would just like to say we are thrilled with the finished outdoor area. I also wanted to highlight that the team were absolutely fantastic. They have worked so hard, they talked to me about everything they were doing, they have cleared up after themselves and they have been a pleasure to have on site. I’d also like to say that they were very aware of safeguarding around children whilst on site and were aware not to get any children in photos or videos of the outdoor area.
