Broseley CE Primary School, Broseley, Shropshire
School: Broseley CE Primary School. Location: Broseley, Shropshire. Client / Trust: School Business Manager. Project Value: £5,000. Completion: June 2025
Location: Broseley, Shropshire
The Brief
The school’s PTA set out to raise funds with a clear and tangible goal in mind. Following earlier improvements to the Key Stage 2 playground, the school recognised a need for more engaging and stimulating play opportunities for Key Stage 1 children during breaks and lunchtimes.
Our Solution
The solution focused on creating a scheme that maximised accessibility for as many children as possible, while still being appropriate for those transitioning from EYFS. With uncertainty around how the equipment would work within the available space and levels, the school sought support to help visualise the layout and understand how the area could be used effectively.
What We Delivered
- A bespoke, low-level climbing cube was carefully designed to encourage the development of a range of gross motor skills, including balance, upper-body strength, and core stability, while keeping children at a height that does not require additional staffing or adult supervision.
- Equipment specifically designed to maximise play in a challenging, sloped area.
- A scaled, full-colour 3D design was produced to help the school visualise the proposed development and to support displays at fundraising events.
- Upon completion, the play area was independently inspected to confirm full compliance with EN 1176 and relevant safety standards.
The Outcome
The final result was a cost-effective, laminated timber climbing structure complemented by red ropework that reflected the school’s branding. Delivered under budget, the project surpassed expectations both in installation and in the enjoyment it brought to the children.
“I think it’s a great success, everyone loves it! Thank you again for efficiency and speed in which all of this has happened.”
