Aldwyn Primary School

Craig, Headteacher at Aldwyn Primary in Audenshaw, Manchester, first contacted ESP Play via the website LiveChat in April 2022. Following some advice on funding, the project was subsequently put on hold in July 22 until he got back in touch in July the following year to arrange for a free consultation with our North West representative.

Craig, the Headteacher at Aldwyn Primary in Audenshaw, Manchester, reached out to ESP PLAY in April 2022. He was interested in installing climbing equipment for KS2 children but needed funding for the project. After receiving guidance on funding, the project was put on hold in July 2022. It remained so until July of the next year, when he re-established contact with our representative in the North West.
Craig was keen on introducing climbing equipment for the KS2 playground. At that time, the only fixtures present were goal units. He aimed to make use of the natural grass area behind the goal unit, ensuring the tarmac space remained unaltered. He also intended to resurface the area to allow for the year-round use of the equipment.
Following on from the meeting at the school in September, the initial design and quote was provided. As soon as Craig saw our Tangled Huntsman with Tyre Pass, he was certain it would be the perfect addition.
The Huntsman, a recent addition to our Tangled series, has quickly become a favourite among KS2 students for its climbing heights and open-ended design that encourages free play. We’ve expanded the range to include various versions featuring a slide, traverse wall, log pass, and tyre pass.
Craig wanted to make a few minor design modifications, replacing a rope with a wooden beam on the Huntsman and adding a traverse net. Initially set at £20,000, the budget was increased to £26,000 to incorporate the additional net and extra surfacing. He presented the quote at the Governors’ meeting at the end of November and placed his order with us in December. The project commenced on January 8th and concluded swiftly within three days by January 10th. Subsequent to the completion, the school received a free independent inspection report, confirming the equipment’s safety and adherence to British standards.
The Outcome
The project has undoubtedly improved the school’s outdoor facilities and supplied essential equipment that will allow the children to develop their gross and fine motor skills for many years ahead.
Following the completion of the project Craig said “Our play equipment is very popular with the pupils, they love it! I was very impressed with the installation and product. Yes, I would recommend ESP to any other school and I look forward to working with ESP in the future.”
True to his word, not only did Craig recommend us to another local school but he has also been back in touch with his focus now on the KS1 Playground. Watch this space for the second development.
