Low Level Traverse Net

Take climbing play to the next level with the ESP Huntsman with Climbing Wall, one of our most adventurous timber climbing frames. A dramatic web of angled timber poles, painted posts, rope nets and steel cables creates a multi-route challenge that children will want to tackle again and again.

A Climbing Adventure in Every Direction

The Huntsman is designed around free, exploratory climbing. Children can scale the two textured climbing walls using colourful handholds, haul themselves up the rope nets, edge along the timber beams and balance their way across the frame’s tangled pathways. With no single set route, every visit becomes a new problem to solve. That builds strength, coordination, balance and confidence alongside planning and risk-assessment skills.

Why Choose Our Timber Climbing Frames?

ESP timber climbing frames combine natural materials with bold design. The Huntsman’s striking arrangement of angled poles and vibrant painted posts makes it a real centrepiece for school grounds, parks and public play areas. Its open, spread-out layout means lots of children can play at once, encouraging teamwork and social play as they climb, chase and challenge one another.

Built for Busy Playgrounds

Made using quality timber with tough steel-core ropes, secure fixings and durable handholds, the Huntsman is built to withstand intensive daily use and the British weather. It’s manufactured and installed to BS EN 1176, so you can be confident it’s safe as well as exciting.

Step inside a fallen tree with the ESP Short Hollow Log, a charming timber playground den shaped like a hollowed-out log. Curved timber staves form the rounded body, with natural, knot-shaped openings at each end. Inside, built-in seating creates a snug space for children to crawl into, sit, chat and play.

A Cosy Hideaway

Children love small, enclosed spaces, and the Hollow Log gives them just that. They can crawl in through the irregular log openings, settle on the seat inside and enjoy a quiet moment away from the bustle of the playground. It’s a perfect spot for sharing secrets, reading a book with a friend or simply taking a break when they need a calmer space.

Sparking Imaginative Play

Inside the log, children’s imaginations take over. It becomes a woodland animal’s burrow, a hobbit hole, a secret den, a camping shelter or a pirate’s hideout. Crawling in and out, peeking through the openings and inviting friends inside all encourage storytelling, communication and cooperative play.

Supporting Wellbeing and Development

Enclosed, den-like spaces help children feel safe and settled, making the Hollow Log a valuable addition to calm zones, sensory gardens and early years outdoor areas. Crawling through the openings also builds gross motor skills and body awareness.

Give children the freedom to build, create and imagine with the ESP Square Den Making Post. Installed as a group, these sturdy square timber posts become the framework for endless den building, weaving and open-ended play. Each post has three holes drilled at different heights, ready for children to thread through poles, ropes, fabrics and natural materials.

Build It, Change It, Build It Again

Den making posts put children in charge. Using sheets, tarpaulins, ropes, branches and canes, they can create dens, hideouts, shops, castles and secret bases, then take everything down and start again with a new idea. No two days of play are ever the same, and every den is designed, built and owned by the children themselves.

Developing Fine Motor Skills

Threading ropes and poles through the holes, tying knots, clipping pegs and weaving fabrics between the posts all develop fine motor skills, hand–eye coordination and hand strength, the foundations for confident pencil grip and early writing. Weaving activities also introduce pattern, sequence and early maths concepts in a hands-on way.

Teamwork and Imaginative Play

Building a den is a natural team project. Children plan together, share ideas, negotiate roles and solve problems as their structure takes shape, building communication, cooperation and resilience. Once the den is finished, it becomes the setting for rich imaginative play and storytelling.

Flexible and Built to Last

Made from quality square-section timber, each post is designed for outdoor use in all weathers. Install posts in rows, circles or clusters to suit your space, and add more over time to expand your den-building area.
