Suitable Age Groups
Early Years – Log Weave
Help little feet find their balance with the ESP Early Years Log Weave. Part of our early years trim trail range, this low, straight timber log is woven between three upright posts, creating a simple, supported balance beam for nursery and reception children.
Balance, Hold and Weave
Children step up onto the low log and make their way along it, weaving around the upright posts as they go. The posts are set on alternate sides of the beam, giving little hands something sturdy to hold whenever they need extra support. Moving around each post adds a gentle twist to the challenge, encouraging children to shift their weight and think about where to place their feet.
Supporting Physical Development
Physical development is a prime area of the Early Years Foundation Stage, and the Log Weave supports it through simple, playful movement. Walking the beam develops balance, coordination, core stability and body awareness, while reaching for and moving around the posts builds spatial awareness and confidence. Children learn to manage small risks safely and try again when they wobble.
Sized for Little Learners
The log sits close to the ground, keeping the challenge safe and approachable for children aged around 3 to 7. A grooved surface along the top of the log gives extra grip for small feet.
The First Step on the Trail
The Early Years Log Weave is the starting point for the ESP Log Weave range. Once children are confident, they can progress to the zig-zagging Log Weave – Intermediate. Combine it with the Early Years Rope Traverse and EYFS Log Pass to build a complete early years trim trail.
Built to Last
Solid round timber logs and posts with secure fixings are designed for busy daily use outdoors. Like all ESP equipment, it's manufactured and installed to BS EN 1176.
