Classroom Table – Size Mark 2 (4-6year olds)
Built for the way early years classrooms actually work
The Classroom Table in Size Mark 2 is designed around children aged 4 to 6 — the age where sitting down to work is still a new skill, and where furniture needs to help rather than get in the way. The 530mm working height pairs with Mark 2 seating to put elbows at the right level and feet flat on the floor, which matters more than it sounds. Good posture at five becomes good posture at fifteen.
There is no frame, no rail and no crossbar underneath. Four legs, splayed outwards, cut from solid birch ply and pinned directly to the underside of the top. Children can tuck right in, chairs push all the way under, and cleaning staff can get a mop across the floor without a fight.
Materials you can see
We have not hidden anything. The edge of the top is left exposed so you can count the plies, a visible record of how the table is made. The surface is a hard-wearing off-white laminate, chosen because it wipes clean after paint, glue, juice and the occasional felt tip that missed the paper. The laminate takes the punishment; the birch takes the years.
Every component is CNC-cut for a precise, repeatable fit, then hand-finished and sealed. The result is a table that feels considered rather than institutional, furniture that suits a bright, calm classroom instead of fighting it.
Designed to sit well in a room
Classroom furniture has a habit of looking like classroom furniture. This does not. The pale birch and soft off-white top work with almost any colour scheme, and the angled legs give the table a lightness that heavy metal-framed alternatives never manage. Put four together for group work, line them along a wall for independent tasks, or leave one on its own as a quiet station, it reads as furniture either way.
Part of a complete range
The Classroom Table sits within ESP's new indoor furniture collection, which shares the same materials, finishes and design language throughout. Tables, chairs and storage are made to be specified together, so a whole room can be fitted out without visual compromise. Size Mark 2 tables pair with Size Mark 2 chairs; other size marks are available for younger and older year groups.
