Trinity Islands is rapidly becoming a landmark destination on the Manchester skyline, and the inclusion of a high-quality outdoor play space at the heart of the development reflects Renaker's commitment to creating thriving, family-friendly neighbourhoods. ESP PLAY were delighted to bring this vision to life with a scheme that balances the energy of city living with the calming, organic feel of a natural play environment. A Natural Look and Feel in an Urban Setting The play area has been designed with a distinctly natural look and texture, providing a refreshing green oasis amongst the contemporary architecture of Trinity Islands. Carefully selected materials, textures and tones combine to create a space that feels organic, welcoming and timeless — a place where children can engage with the natural world right in the middle of the city. At the heart of the design sit a beautifully crafted robinia swing and a charming robinia seesaw, both made from naturally durable, characterful timber. Robinia is renowned for its unique knots, curves and natural finishes, giving each piece its own individual personality and helping the play area feel truly bespoke. These classic play elements bring traditional, sociable fun while perfectly complementing the natural aesthetic. Active Play for Every Adventurer Adding excitement and active play, the scheme features a wide slide, ideal for sociable sliding fun where friends can race side by side. Climbing grips have been thoughtfully integrated to encourage children to climb, balance and explore, supporting the development of strength, coordination and confidence. Gently shaped play mounds further enhance the natural feel of the space, creating subtle changes in level that invite children to run, roll, climb and discover. Mounds are a wonderful feature in any natural play scheme, encouraging free, instinctive movement and imaginative play. Comfort, Style and Safety To support family use and community gathering, comfortable seating has been thoughtfully positioned throughout the area, offering parents, carers and residents the perfect place to relax, supervise and enjoy the surroundings. The space has been finished with natural coloured wetpour safety surfacing, delivering the highest standards of safety and accessibility while keeping the design beautifully in tune with its natural aesthetic.
