A New Play Area for Somerton Town Council

Project Background

Playgrounds for Town Councils do not get any better than this new one recently installed for Somerton Town Council Play Area. This is a s New Community Landmark for the town. ESP PLAY is proud to have delivered a remarkable new play area for Somerton Town Council; a £200,000 plus investment that has transformed outdoor play for families across the community. Designed with inclusivity and accessibility at its heart, the scheme ensures children of all abilities can explore, socialise and play side by side.

The Playground Project

Swings of every description cater to every age and ability, from gentle toddler seats and flat-seat swings to a generous inclusive nest swing and an adventurous robinia rope swing. For climbing enthusiasts, the area offers climbing boulders, climbing cones and a larger adventure climbing unit complete with tube slides. Younger visitors will love the imaginative play house, fitted with mirrors and interactive play panels to spark sensory exploration and creative play. Another feature is the inclusive wheelchair roundabout, giving wheelchair users the same freedom and thrill as their friends. Adding a wonderful touch of local character, a bespoke play tractor and trailer takes pride of place, finished with Somerton Community branding printed boldly along the side; a charming nod to the area's heritage. Safety and comfort run throughout the design. A combination of wetpour safety surfacing and bonded rubber mulch creates a soft, accessible landscape underfoot, while thoughtfully positioned picnic tables offer welcome spots for parents and carers to rest, relax and supervise. With more than twelve companies tendering for this unique and bespoke project, ESP PLAY were delighted to secure the contract and deliver it successfully, completing the entire installation in just six weeks from start to finish. The new play area now stands as a vibrant, welcoming space where the children of Somerton, their families and visitors can come together, play freely and create lasting memories for years to come, a true asset for the whole community.
