Queenswell Infant & Nursery School- Barnet- London

A new climbing area including a bespoke pirate ship and clamber stack installed in the infant playground. The project also included the EYFS playground where the school now have balance beam on mounds, a tunnel and a bridge for the little explorers.
Location: Barnet, London
We were invited to quote for both areas at Queenswell Infant and Nursery with the works planned to be done at the same time. The playgrounds didn’t have any climbing equipment suitable for the older children.
Climbing is a physically engaging and mentally stimulating activity that offers loads of different benefits for children’s development, as well as benefiting their overall wellbeing. From enhancing physical strength and developing hand eye coordination, to promoting problem solving skills and boosting self-esteem, climbing provides a unique learning experience that can contribute massively to a child’s growth.
The staff wanted to have a clamber stack and a pirate ship to accommodate more children. We selected our tangled huntsman which was adjusted in height to be suitable for KS1 children. We also created a bespoke pirate ship with blue components to incorporate the school colour. The pirate ship not only offers climbing activities it can also encourage roleplay
Blue and green artificial grass installed creatively which acts as the safety surface. Additionally, a raised play den and traverse wall have been included to provide additional resource.
The EYFS area had an exiting roadway which the staff were keen to keep but incorporate in the project. We added islands of artificial grass in the blank areas of the roadway. On each of the islands we added a tunnel and mound and a mounded balance beam. In addition to this, a bridge and strips of different surfaces have been added to the roadway to create sensory elements.
The staff are extremely happy with the service received and the installation process and most importantly, the children are loving their new play areas.
